The original idea of Roll Up & Carry was born in an architectural studio in New York as a method for carrying large, rolled architectural drawings quickly and easily. When Architect Emi Shiga, the creator of the Roll Up & Carry, moved to Washington State, she founded ArchiAtelier (ar-ki-AT-l-yay), an architectural/product-design studio. There, she made her idea into shape and developed the device to be used by fellow yoga-lovers to easily carry their yoga mats. This carrying method has been filed with U.S. and International patent office.
Our vision at ArchiAtelier—a portmanteau of “architecture” and “atelier”—is to remove the barrier between architecture and other fields. We provide architectural services as well as design and create products based on our architectural experience.
ArchiAtelier is dedicated to the environment as well as fair labor standards. This is why the Roll Up & Carry is made in the USA, reducing our carbon footprint, boosting the American economy, and ensuring the high quality of our product.
Not satisfied solely with designing buildings alone, our team of architects works together on the design of our products. Our virtual studio unites team members in Washington to others across the US.
